About this deal

We are delighted to have High Wycombe celebrated in this way! This town offers such a rich variety of culture and community spirit, from a preserved medieval High Street with its famous market to the wonderful Swan Theatre, as well as a fantastic array of shops and restaurants. Each year the MONOPOLY dice roll on a new place – over the last two years it has been Palm Springs in leafy Riverside County, California and The Hamptons in New York state – and High Wycombe has beaten a shortlist of 24 other places from across the world. Now you can own a piece of history for yourself with this brand new edition of the classic game of Monopoly.

Red roses and chocolates were handed out to shoppers in High Wycombe town centre, as well as signed Monopoly money by Mr Monopoly to celebrate.

Hobbies

From shopping to sport, the arts to leisure – and lots more including a travel set on the four MONOPOLY railway stations. James Simons, Head of Retail UK & Ireland at Bang & Olufsen adds, “Online has changed the retail landscape no question, but we believe an omnichannel approach is key to delivering the best customer experience. Customers will want to see our distinctive designs, immerse themselves with superior sound performance and feel the rich materials that set our products apart, with expert guidance on hand to help them with their requirements.” We also have pupils who have become famous, for example James Corden returned to open our new studios in Bridge Street.”

For the ladies there were regular fashion shows at the Town Hall or Red Lion Hotel, when Murrays’ own staff volunteered to act as models for the new clothing lines. These variants began to be introduced in 1994 and since then more than one hundred licensees have been created. Melanie Williams, Chief Executive of High Wycombe BID said: “We couldn’t be more excited to hear this great news for High Wycombe and are delighted to have won the opportunity to be part of the MONOPOLY family.

The shop was an instant success and the Rivett family progressively enlarged the store. Firstly they redeveloped the Methodist Church next door, then acquired the National Boys School next door to that, demolished the building and built another extension to the store. We like to support local events which is why we are taking part in the switching-on of the Christmas lights, as well as Monopoly launch and several local pantomimes. The ball could seat six to 10 people and was reputed to be a meeting place for the notorious Hell Fire Club. It hosted visitors to the club such as Benjamin Franklin and was stated by the author John Wilkes to be “the best globe tavern I was ever in”! Locally pupils from the school can be seen in Matilda the Musical; Matilda the Movie; and shortly in pantomimes at Wycombe Swan, Chesham, and Aylesbury. From a young age Marylyn had been taught to dance by her mother, then received professional coaching, including acrobatics by an ex-Hungarian circus acrobat.
