About this deal

This is a book that pumps along at full velocity (much like the party beat on the island) and it sometimes feels relentless, with its often acute observations and lewd descriptions (get this one: Jac, now the colour of an angry penis about to go off…. Sophie lives with her husband, two children and an extremely spirited beagle, and is currently writing her next book. I can't believe the cliffhanger at the end though so I really hope she brings out the next part really soon. Our protagonist, Cara Carmichael, is a relatable mess of a character, whose life has been flipped upside down by a philandering husband. So what started out fun and believable quickly turned into a crazy caper that just felt very over the top.

Thought the plot was too slow to start (action actually starts at chapter 20) and the writing style was too lenghty and descriptive.Fast forward to “Mums On Tour” to Ibiza and think about handsome strangers, estranged family and lots more side plots. Some parts are very far fetched and unbelievable and you’re thinking, surely this couldn’t happen in real life! The story is chaotic and very busy, I do feel as though Sophie crammed in as many jokes/90's references as she could in pretty much every other sentence.

Mums on Tour: ditching kids, partners and better judgement for a long-weekend of sun, sea, and sex…y support pants. I do think the plot may be a little marmite, at points it was just insanely ridiculous (fun and had me gasping), but totally off the wall. But of course, absolutely nothing goes to plan and the foursome get themselves into many sticky situations.

Faced with secrets, lies, and betrayal - does it pay to be a good egg, or do bad chicks reign supreme? All in all I would recommend as a fun summer beach read, if you want a book packed with surprises and laugh out loud one liners!

Looking at the cover of this book, you would assume this is a fun, carefree, all girls trip filled with sun sea and sand. I loved every second I spent devouring this book and I can’t wait to introduce it to so many more people. They fly into Ibiza and soon arrive at Unicorn Utopia (yup), their sacred spiritual sanctuary in the middle of nowhere. Er, this isn’t what they bargained for and they to not intend to spend their short time on the island tramping about in nature and contemplating their navels, so they decamp to a very upmarket establishment, where Cara is confronted by the last people on earth she would expect to meet.

Propelled towards internet stardom in 2017 for a parody of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’, her stand-up, songs and sketches focus on the messier side of life and the truth about parenting. Lazy days, crazy nights and child-free hangovers sound like hedonistic heaven - but it turns out you can get into a hell of a lot of trouble on the party island where rules are meant to be broken. I am a follower of Sophie and was so looking forward to this book, who doesn't love a crazy hen story?
